James Cropper, a global market leader in advanced materials, luxury packaging and paper products, has been awarded a gold medal rating by EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings.

The rigorous assessment of corporate social responsibility has placed James Cropper’s moulded fibre operation in the top 5% of all global businesses that EcoVadis rates.

The news comes as the papermaker’s latest project goes on show at one of the industry’s most prestigious events this month (16 May). As part of The Avant Garde programme at the Packaging Premiere event in Milan, the new minimalist Belle Epoque Cocoon champagne wrap for Maison Perrier-Jouët, has been singled out as a shining example of circularity and recyclability that challenges the norms of luxury.

The Cocoon wrap was produced using 100% green energy with James Cropper’s EcoVadis gold rated moulded fibre.

The EcoVadis sustainability assessment methodology is at the heart of its ratings and scorecards and is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability and CSR into their business and management system. It is based on seven founding principles. For more information visit https://ecovadis.com/about-us/

“ Creating a more sustainable world is a critical challenge. Consumers are increasingly choosing products based on their eco-friendly credentials, and brands in turn are seeking out low-carbon, regenerative and bio-based solutions for a climate friendly economy. The gold standard EcoVadis sustainability ranking provides our customers and partners with transparency on our operations and supply chain, and affirms the value we can bring not only in packaging design innovation but also in making a material difference in terms of sustainability. ”
