Facing Papers and Backing Papers

Bespoke colours and textures to suit every project
With the ability to develop papers of any shade made from 100% cotton fibres, 100% fresh fibres, or a blend of fresh and upcycled fibres, the opportunities to develop something truly bespoke are limitless.

Facing papers are available in 100gsm and can be designed to meet your cost or compliance requirements, from ultimate protection using conservation methods to low grade protection using basic materials. All facing papers are designed with high light-fastness to ensure fade resistance over time, keeping your artwork looking pristine for years to come.

Middles

Mountboard core in varying shades and fibre content
White, black, or coloured cores to add thickness and strength to a finished mountboard product. We can laminate facing papers to middles to create a complete product, or supply the individual elements separately.

Our standard range of middles consists of products made with 100% fresh fibre, 100% cotton fibre, or varying levels of upcycled fibre blended with fresh fibre in a range of thicknesses.

Mountboard

Finished mountboard (matboard) product
Using our on-site converting facilities, we can laminate bespoke (or standard) facing papers, middles, and liners together to create a complete mountboard product ready to be hung on the wall.

Superior lightfastness for fade resistance

Lightfastness is a property of a colourant such as a dye or pigment that describes how resistant to fading it is when exposed to sunlight. High lightfast facing papers are resistant to colour changes and lightening.

Mountboard quality from FATG Level 1 to Level 4

The FATG now classifies standards of framing in four different levels. From Level 1, which gives ultimate protection using conservation methods, to Level 4, which gives low level protection using basic materials.

Cotton and high quality alpha cellulose products

Cotton is almost 100% alpha cellulose and naturally lignin and acid free.  The highest grade of wood pulp paper (containing as much as 93% cellulose) is high alpha cellulose.
