Tell us about a typical day in your role at James Cropper:
JB
Cliché but true, no two days are the same other than starting with a strong coffee.
If I’m in the office on that day, there will be a check in with team and then it will be get to work on my task list. Over the past 2-3 years I’ve found using task lists a great way of managing my workload. As a Commercial Account Manager it is important that I am aware of the day to day activities for my accounts and spending time in the office is so useful even in the hybrid working era.
The rest of the day will be spent dealing with enquiries and opportunities, speaking to my accounts and offering support to our Customer Experience team.
If I am out visiting an account, I like to prep the day before to ensure I have details to hand for the meeting.

During your career at James Cropper, what has been your most memorable highlight?
JB
Most memorable would be working with a customer to help bring their World’s Favourite Colour project to life. Seeing the amount of research and data they had gathered was quite staggering and the end result was a beautiful colour which is known as Marrs Green. It’s even got its own Wikipedia page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marrs_green

What work are you particularly proud of at James Cropper?
JB
I’m proud to work for a company that has a global reach through our product offering, whether that is Paper or Advance materials. Something I wasn’t aware of when I joined the company.
It becomes second nature to look at paper products whenever you are in a shop and being able spot something that was produced by James Cropper gives you that sense of job satisfaction.
James Cropper has always been willing to invest in the workforce. I’ve been supported during my career to look at external courses and qualifications alongside my role to aid my professional development and I’m proud of completing these alongside a full time role.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
JB
After falling out with the gym and fitness in general for a few years, I’ve found myself getting back into running and fitness in the past 18 months. The positive is that I feel a lot healthier however it has resulted in me developing a bit of an guilty pleasure for running shoes.
I hadn’t realised just how important they were when training properly! I keep telling myself I need more when in fact I probably need to introduce a little hiatus on purchasing any new training shoes…
