The Dom Ruinart ‘Chalk Wrap’ champagne luxury packaging, designed and manufactured by James Cropper (in collaboration with Pusterla 1880 & Maison Sagan) has been awarded the prestigious Formes de Luxe 2022 Award at LUXEPACK Monaco.

The 24th edition of the Formes de Luxe Awards ceremony took place on October 3rd 2022. The luxury packaging awards recognizing excellence from brands and suppliers was held at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, co-hosted by Formes de Luxe and Luxe Packaging Insight Editorial Director Alissa Demorest and French television journalist Gérald Ariano.

“ An incredible evolution of Ruinart’s Second Skin. This complex design has more than 400 facets, and the opening and closing system remains of great quality. ”

JAMES  CROPPER AND MAISON RUINART CHALK UP ANOTHER PACKAGING REVOLUTION

Inspired by James Cropper’s ‘Second Skin‘ pulp packaging cases, Maison Ruinart collaborated again revealing a fresh facet of innovation with the chalk wrap or ‘ROCK’ enveloping its Dom Ruinart 2010 vintage champagne bottles.

A state-of-the-art alternative to the traditional gift boxes, fully recyclable and with a 62% reduced carbon footprint. The design was inspired by Ruinart’s ancestral chalk cellars where the 2010 Dom Ruinart vintage aged under cork for more than 10 years.

As the finishing touch, a hand-applied gold marking enhances the chalk wrap’s exceptional character.

Previous bottles used a label and so the chalk wrap foiling marks the first-time detail has been applied directly to the packaging. The James Cropper team were delighted to be able to meet Ruinart’s tightly specified brief with the fine detail required.

“ A great accomplishment for Maison Ruinart and for our ambition to push the boundaries of eco-design and sustainable luxury packaging. ”
